press release

Splash Car Wash is teaming up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) by designating drivers to remain sober during St. Patrick Day festivities at the Black Bear Saloon in Stamford Saturday night. "You driving?" will be asked of the patrons to determine those who want to take responsibility for driving their friends and family that will be drinking alcohol.

Each Designated Driver will receive a "Need a Ride?" sticker from the bartenders or servers that will provide them free non-alcoholic drinks for the entire evening courtesy of Black Bear and Splash. Each Designated Driver will also receive a gift bag, which will include among other things a free carwash at Splash. And as an added incentive, there will be a raffle for all the Designated Drivers that evening for a $300 package, which will include a Splash Five Star Detail.

"We are so excited to be teamed up with Black Bear for this inaugural program", stated Caitlin Robinson, Director of Promotions at Splash. "We hope that this will help raise awareness, especially during traditional "drinking holidays", that someone needs to take responsibility, stay sober, to get their friends and family home safe."

Such programs have succeeded according to a Nielsen Media Research study that found that 72% of Americans have been a designated driver or have been driven home by one. "If the concept succeeds, we hope to add more holidays and more Black Bear locations to the effort", added Robinson.

The Black Bear Saloon is located at 261 Main Street in Stamford. The Designated Driver Program is slated to begin at 7pm and run through midnight on Saturday, March 15th.
