Woman gives birth at Carwash - Baby gets free washes for life

For years Splash Car Wash in Wilton has been a great place to bring the kids for fun while getting your car washed, but early on Tuesday June 3rd it was the site of different kind of joy for brand new parents. On Monday evening, June 2nd Carey and Donna Paley were hurriedly traveling down Route 7 in Wilton with Donna about to give birth to their son. While on the phone with their midwife they were told to pull over and find a safe spot as they weren’t going to make it to the hospital.

Cary pulled into the Splash Car Wash site on Danbury Road at around 1am and called 911. Wilton Police responded within a minute and a few moments later the Paleys were proud parents of a baby boy, David Maxwell Paley. EMTs also responded and transported the happy family to Norwalk Hospital in an ambulance.

The Splash crew was bewildered by the abandoned car the next morning in their lot. Cary stopped by later to explain what happened and asked if he could have Splash do a detail on the car. David Jones, detailing manager for Splash said cheerily, “This was probably the most challenging job I’ve seen since I’ve been at Splash. We did a good job for the Paleys but I don’t think we’ll be adding this to the menu of services we offer any time soon.”

As a family friendly establishment for 27 years Splash has seen its share of expecting employees and customers alike. Owners Chris Fisher & Mark Curtis had always joked of providing free car washes for life to any baby born at a Splash location. Upon hearing about the unusual delivery Chris and Mark agreed that the time had come to honor that pledge. Curtis called to tell the proud father that, free of charge, Splash Car Wash would be happy to continue cleaning up after their new child, David for a long, long time to come.
